ENPE and UNODC workshop on Illegal Pesticides 28-29.11.24, Vienna

A workshop on Illegal Pesticides was organised by ENPE’s Waste and Illegal Pesticides (W&IP) Working Group and hosted by our colleagues at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on 28-29 November 2024. In total 26 delegates representing 13 different european countries gathered to hear presentations from the Basel Convention Secretariat, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the workshop hosts, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as well as a selection of case studies from across Europe presented by ENPE members. 

Concrete Next Steps included a commitment to revisit the new Environmental Crime Directive EU/ 1203/2024 in order to identify the steps prosecutors in Member States should take to improve enforcement in this significant area of environmental crime, and the need to follow up the workshop with additional case studies for sharing and discussion.
