National strategies on combating environmental crime - A package for inspiration
The new Environmental Crime Directive (EU) 2024/ 1203 includes, in Article 21, an obligation for Member States to establish and publish a national strategy on combating environmental criminal offences by 21 May 2027.
For EU Member States, this is a direct obligation and for candidate Member States it is relevant as being a part of the EU acquis. For the last 6 months, ENPE has been working on a ‘Package of Inspiration’ to help our members, stakeholders and all those involved in the enforcement of environmental crime across Europe, to prepare and deliver their strategy.
The culmination of this work is the attached document, which provides input for a strategy from the prosecutor’s point of view.
